U.S. State Privacy Rights

Supplemental Notice for U.S. Residents

This page provides additional information about privacy rights available to residents of specific U.S. states under applicable state privacy laws. These rights supplement (and do not replace) the rights described in our main Privacy Policy.

California Residents

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

Your Rights Under CCPA/CPRA

  • Right to Know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, the sources of that information, our purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to Delete: You may request that we delete personal information we collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: You may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to Limit Sensitive Personal Information: You may limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

California residents have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as defined under the CCPA and CPRA.

How to Opt Out:

  • Account Settings: If you have an account, go to Settings → Privacy & Safety and toggle "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" on
  • Global Privacy Control (GPC): We honor Global Privacy Control signals sent by your browser. If GPC is enabled, we will automatically treat this as a request to opt out of sales/sharing.
  • Email: Submit a request as described below

Required Information:

  • The email address associated with your Wepinion account
  • Your full name
  • Confirmation that you are a California resident
  • Statement: "I request to opt out of the sale and sharing of my personal information"

We will process your request within 15 business days and will not discriminate against you for exercising this right.

Authorized Agents

California residents may designate an authorized agent to submit privacy requests on their behalf. To submit a request through an authorized agent:

  • The agent must provide written authorization signed by you, or a valid power of attorney under California Probate Code sections 4121-4130
  • We may require you to verify your identity directly with us and confirm that you authorized the agent to act on your behalf
  • We may deny requests from agents who cannot provide adequate proof of authorization

  • The consumer's full name and email address associated with their Wepinion account
  • The agent's full name, company name (if applicable), and contact email
  • Proof of written authorization or power of attorney (attached as PDF)
  • Specific description of the request being made on behalf of the consumer
  • Confirmation that the consumer is a California resident

California Shine the Light

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 ("Shine the Light") permits California residents to request information regarding our disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.

Required Information:

  • Your full name
  • The email address associated with your Wepinion account
  • Confirmation that you are a California resident
  • Statement: "I request disclosure of personal information shared with third parties for marketing purposes"

We will respond within 30 days. Alternatively, you may opt out of such disclosures at any time by adjusting your Privacy Settings (Settings → Privacy & Safety) to disable marketing data sharing with third parties.

Virginia Residents

If you are a Virginia resident, you have the following rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA):

  • Right to Access: Confirm whether we are processing your personal data and access such data
  • Right to Correct: Correct inaccuracies in your personal data
  • Right to Delete: Delete personal data provided by or obtained about you
  • Right to Data Portability: Obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable format
  • Right to Opt Out: Opt out of the processing of personal data for targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects

Colorado Residents

If you are a Colorado resident, you have the following rights under the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA):

  • Right to Access: Confirm whether we are processing your personal data and access such data
  • Right to Correct: Correct inaccuracies in your personal data
  • Right to Delete: Delete personal data provided by or obtained about you
  • Right to Data Portability: Obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable format
  • Right to Opt Out: Opt out of the processing of personal data for targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects

Connecticut Residents

If you are a Connecticut resident, you have the following rights under the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA):

  • Right to Access: Confirm whether we are processing your personal data and access such data
  • Right to Correct: Correct inaccuracies in your personal data
  • Right to Delete: Delete personal data provided by or obtained about you
  • Right to Data Portability: Obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable format
  • Right to Opt Out: Opt out of the processing of personal data for targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects

Utah Residents

If you are a Utah resident, you have the following rights under the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA):

  • Right to Access: Confirm whether we are processing your personal data and access such data
  • Right to Delete: Delete personal data provided by you
  • Right to Data Portability: Obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable format
  • Right to Opt Out: Opt out of the processing of personal data for targeted advertising or sale of personal data

Oregon Residents

If you are an Oregon resident, you have the following rights under the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act (OCPA):

  • Right to Access: Confirm whether we are processing your personal data and access such data
  • Right to Correct: Correct inaccuracies in your personal data
  • Right to Delete: Delete personal data provided by or obtained about you
  • Right to Data Portability: Obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable format
  • Right to Opt Out: Opt out of the processing of personal data for targeted advertising, sale of personal data, or profiling
  • Right to Know Third Party Recipients: Obtain a list of third parties to which we have disclosed your personal data

Texas Residents

If you are a Texas resident, you have the following rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA):

  • Right to Access: Confirm whether we are processing your personal data and access such data
  • Right to Correct: Correct inaccuracies in your personal data
  • Right to Delete: Delete personal data provided by or obtained about you
  • Right to Data Portability: Obtain a copy of your personal data in a portable format
  • Right to Opt Out: Opt out of targeted advertising, sale of personal data, and certain profiling

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of your state privacy rights, you may:

  • Account Settings: Go to Settings → Privacy & Safety to manage data sharing preferences, opt out of data sales, download your data, or delete your account
  • Email: For requests that cannot be completed through settings, submit via email as described below

  • Your full name
  • The email address associated with your Wepinion account
  • Your state of residence
  • The specific right you are exercising (access, deletion, correction, opt-out, portability)
  • A clear description of your request

We will verify your identity before processing your request. We may require additional information to verify your identity. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by your state's law (typically 45 days).

Appeal Process

If we deny your privacy request, you may appeal our decision within 30 days of receiving our response.

Required Information:

  • Your full name
  • The email address associated with your Wepinion account
  • Your original request reference number (if provided in our response)
  • The date of our denial response
  • A copy of our denial response (forwarded or attached)
  • The reason you believe our decision was incorrect
  • Any additional information supporting your appeal

We will respond to your appeal within 60 days. If we deny your appeal, we will provide information on how to contact your state's attorney general to file a complaint.
